This is Huntin’ Land, the podcast for landowners and land hunters, with how to’s on habitat management and land investment. We've got a special treat for you today, The entire show we're going to be talking to the experts over at Ducks Unlimited and learning about the vision for DU in its 83rd year and beyond.

Today we're talking with Adam Putnam, the new CEO of Ducks Unlimited, and a little later in the show, we'll be visiting again with Chief Scientist Dr. Tom Moorman, Tom is going to cover Wetlands Mitigation and how Landowners can get involved with Ducks Unlimited to simultaneously increase waterfowl habitat and financial gain.

On Today’s show, we’re going to learn a little more about Adam Putnam, the newest CEO for Ducks Unlimited. We’ll learn a little bit about Adam’s background, his history with waterfowl and DU, and a little backstory on how he came to be the head coach of the largest non-profit organization in the World!

Some of the highlights of today’s show will be hearing: What were Total Revenues for DU in 2018? Does this represent an increase or decrease over FY2017? Where does the money come from? Breakdown of revenue percentages. At DU, how much of each dollar goes towards the mission? How many acres were conserved in 2018? What are some examples? What accomplishments were achieved in Washington? What are some of Adam’s specific goals for DU? Are there any big changes on the horizon? What are some of the biggest threats facing waterfowl and waterfowl hunters right now?

And after a great discussion with Adam, we’re checking in again with Dr. Tom Moorman, Chief Scientist of Ducks Unlimited. We’re learning where the ducks are right now and how we can use sound science to not only increase waterfowl habitat, but also increase financial gain for the landowner.

We’ll go in-depth with Tom on Wetlands Mitigation through Ducks Unlimited. Ducks Unlimited projects on private lands provide tremendous benefits to waterfowl, other wildlife and you! DU has teams of biologists and engineers that provide wetland restoration, management, and protection services directly to landowners. When a private land project is matched up with wetland mitigation funds, the result is habitat for wildlife and financial gain to the landowner. We’ll define a wetland mitigation bank. We'll learn what happens when wetlands are destroyed, and how many acres of wetlands have to then be preserved?

Tom will explain how Ducks Unlimited can come out on your property and advise you on how to create or enhance waterfowl habitat. We’ll learn if still own the property and just how this consultation can increase financial gain for the landowner. We’ll also cover the types of wetlands that DU most interested in protecting, with a special emphasis on what types of wetland sites have good potential for DU wetland mitigation banking. If you’ve ever considered enhancing your property for waterfowl, you don’t want to miss this show.
